Mr. Malcolm Bruce

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will detail the type of information requested on pension funds by the Inland Revenue (technical division) special office, Sheffield.

Tax-approved pension funds are exempt from tax only on their income and gains derived from holding investments. In each case, inquiries have been made to establish whether the tax exemption applies to all the fund's activities.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, pursuant to his answer of 25 January,Official Report, column 85, he will list the 12 pension funds from whom information has been requested.
