To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Belfast, South on 22 January,Official Report, column 869, how many of the total days off sick or injured by members of the Metropolitan police were attributable to (a) injury and (b) sickness; and if he will give this information for the last five years, stating average days off per capita.

I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that information in the form requested is not collected centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. However, the numbers of officers injured on duty, who were placed on the sick list, are as follows:
