Mr. O'NeillTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) pursuant to his answer of 1 February,Official Report, column 444, whether United Kingdom Trident warheads will be reattached to missiles by United Kingdom personnel at the United States Trident facility in King's bay, Georgia; and if he will make a statement;
(2) pursuant to his answer of 1 February, Official Report, column 444, whether any British warheads will be stored at the United States Trident facility at King's bay Georgia; and if he will make a statement;
(3) pursuant to his answer of 1 February, Official Report, column 444, if he will estimate how many British military and civilian personnel will be employed at the United States Trident facility at King's bay, Georgia.
§ Mr. SainsburyAs has been stated previously, the United Kingdom-designed and built Trident warhead will at all times remain in United Kingdom hands. These warheads will be mated to and demated from United Kingdom Trident missiles at RNAD Coulport exclusively. No United Kingdom Trident warheads will therefore be transported to, or stored or handled at the United States 797W facility at King's bay, Georgia by any personnel. It is not planned that any United Kingdom staff will be permanently employed at King's bay.
