HC Deb 05 February 1988 vol 126 cc802-3W
Mr. Rowe

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the level of charges for compulsory eye tests for motor vehicle drivers required to raise a sum equivalent to the sum expected to be raised by charging for eye tests under the Health and Medicines Bill, and if he will provide figures for tests at one year, two years and three year intervals, respectively.

Mr. Newton

The Health and Medicines Bill does riot provide for revenue to be raised by charging for National Health Service sight tests. It proposes to limit the free NHS test to certain groups. Any charge for tests for those in other groups will be for those providing them to determine.
