HC Deb 04 February 1988 vol 126 c686W
Mr. Hargreaves

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what advice his Department gives regarding the carriage of passengers in the driver's cab of a moving train; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

The carriage of unescorted passengers in the driving cabs of trains is prohibited under the British Railways Board's own rules. My Department fully endorses this policy.

Mr. Hargreaves

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has as to how widespread is the carrying of passengers in the driving cab of a moving train; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

Carrying of passengers in driving cabs of trains is known to occur on rare occasions. The British Railways Board takes appropriate action on these.
