To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will place in the Library a copy of the recent letter sent to Fife health board concerning financial allocations for surgical procedures to be carried out in the private sector.

I have placed a copy of the recent letter to Fife health board, concerning the additional allocations, in the House of Commons Library. Following further consideration by the board of its proposal to treat NHS patients in private hospitals, I have agreed that the board may use the resources set aside for this purpose in its own facilities.
