§ Mr. MacdonaldTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the function of the ship-to-shore and shore-to-ship communication systems being installed at RAF Aird Uig, Lewis; and what increase in(a) Royal Air Force, (b) Royal Navy, (c) United States and (d) civilian personnel working at the station will result from their introduction.
§ Mr. Ian StewartThe communications system to be installed at RAF Aird Uig will form part of the improved United Kingdom air defence ground environment system. Up to a maximum of six additional RAF technicians will be required at RAF Stornoway to maintain the facility. No other personnel will be involved.
