HC Deb 04 February 1988 vol 126 c682W
Q8. Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Prime Minister what is her policy towards setting up formal internal inquiries into the improper leaking of official information in cases where the salient facts appear to be known in advance of such an inquiry; what criteria she uses in such cases in deciding what fresh evidence an inquiry might produce and how effective a use of public funds and officials' time such an exercise is likely to prove; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

The hon. Gentleman's question is based on a premise which I do not accept.
