To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects the next surveys of mineral workings and of derelict land in England to be carried out.

§ Mr. Trippier
These two surveys will be undertaken in 1988, with a base date of 1 April. The survey forms were sent out early in January. Local authorities will have up to nine months, from January to September, in which to complete the survey tables for their respective areas. We hope the results of the surveys will be published in summer 1989.
