Mr. Ashley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many hospital beds in new hospital developments in England and in each of the National Health Service regions are currently empty because there was insufficient money for the whole development of parts or it to be opened on the planned date; and if he will relate the figures to the population of each region.

(2) how many new hospital developments in England and in each of the National Health Service regions are
