HC Deb 04 February 1988 vol 126 c731W
58. Mr. Geraint Howells

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied with the present state of the agriculture industry.

Mr. MacGregor

Although overall farming income as a whole in England is forecast to have fallen somewhat, largely because of the effects of adverse weather on the arable sector, there have been increases in England in the dairy and less-favoured areas livestock sectors, and there was a good recovery in forecast farming income for 1987 for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
