HC Deb 04 February 1988 vol 126 c732W
64. Dr. Marek

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received concerning the effects of Government legislation on agricultural tenancies; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gummer

From time to time, I receive comments from individuals and interested organisations about the current arrangements. The existing agricultural holdings legislation, revised in 1984 after lengthy consultation, represents a careful balance of interest between landlord and tenant and any proposals for change must have the support of the industry.

I am always, of course, ready to consider any ideas the industry puts to me on an agreed basis.
