HC Deb 03 February 1988 vol 126 cc651-2W
Mr. Andrew Mitchell

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if there are any proposals to change the 1987–88 cash limit and running costs limit for the Ordnance Survey.

Mr. Moynihan

Subject to parliamentary approval of the necessary Supplementary Estimate, the cash limit for class XX, vote 10 will be decreased by £227,000 from £21,420,000 to £21,193,000 and the running costs limit will be increased by £1,035,000 from £52,299,000 to £53,334,000. The increase in running costs is required for payments on surveying contracts and for unavoidable VAT payments. There will be an increase in the VAT refund from Customs and Excise of £245,000. The decrease in the cash limit is due to Ordnance Survey not taking up the end-year flexibility provision of £1,017,000 as announced by my right hon. Friend the Chief Secretary to the Treasury to the House on 23 July 1987, Official Report columns 434–38. The balance will be surrendered to the Reserve.
