To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he is yet in a position to report on progress towards a United Nations naval command in the Gulf

The Soviet Union has put forward a number of proposals relating to the establishment of a United Nations naval force for the Gulf. We continue to believe that such a force would be impractical in current circumstances.
