The fatality in 1984 was a road traffic accident in scheme time. 2 Up to 31 March 1986 major injuries were classified according to the criteria in the Notification of Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1980. From 1 April 1986 major injuries have been classified according to the criteria in the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1986. This has had the effect of reclassifying some accidents from the minor to the major category and means that figures before and after 31 March 1986 are not directly comparable.
