HC Deb 03 February 1988 vol 126 cc641-2W
Mr. Butler

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he intends to take any action to discourage drug trafficking on British dependent territories in the Caribbean.

Mr. Eggar

We are currently implementing a number of recommendations arising out of our 1986 survey to improve the defences of the dependent territories against drug-trafficking. These have included assistance with training and advice, and provision of detection and surveillance equipment, including an aircraft and police launch. It is part of our continuing programme to combat drug-trafficking in the Caribbean as a whole, in cooperation with regional Governments and the Government of the United States.
