HC Deb 03 February 1988 vol 126 c627W
Mr. Gwilym Jones

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether any changes will be made to his Department's cash limits and running cost limit for 1987–88.

Mr. Butcher

Subject to parliamentary approval of the necessary Supplementary Estimates, the cash limit for Class V, Vote 2 will be reduced by £7,498,000 to £456,751,000 to offset the increased provision on Class V, Vote I. The cash limit for Class V, Vote 3 will be reduced by £2,000,000 to £148,085,000 since £2,000,000 of the planned expenditure on accommodation works for the DTI has been met from PSA expenditure on Class XX, Vote 19. The Department's running cost limit has been reduced by £165,000 to £275,207,000 to reflect the reclassification of £139,000 of Industrial Research Establishment expenditure and to allow an increase of £26,000 in the Government Actuary's Department's running costs to cover additional work on behalf of my Department's insurance division. No net increase to public expenditure results from these changes.
