HC Deb 02 February 1988 vol 126 c527W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Attorney-General what information is available to the Lord Chancellor's Department on the current location of the original intercept of the Zinoviev letter of 15 September 1924; what representations he has received regarding its absence from Public Record Office files; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

The Lord Chancellor's Department has no information about the location of any document containing the text of the Zinoviev letter as it originally came into the possession of the British Government. A copy of the text is available for public inspection in the Public Record Office. I am not aware of any representations either to myself or to the Lord Chancellor about the absence of the original letter from the Public Record Office.
