§ Mr. Frank CookTo ask the Secretary of State for Energy what information he has received on the statement 533W of 19 January by the European Economic Community Environment Commissioner to the European Parliament on the transnuclear waste transport cover-up and bribery incident in the European Economic Community, particularly in terms of its implications for the implementation of EURATOM safety and safeguard arrangements within the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Michael SpicerI am placing a copy of the 19 January statement by Commissioner Stanley Clinton Davis in the Library of the House. On 19 January Commissioner Mosar also told the European Parliament that he had no evidence as yet of diversion of fissile material from Mol for unlawful use. The International Atomic Energy Agency has stated it was satisfied that there had been no unauthorised diversion of nuclear material in significant quantities. The deputy director general of the IAEA has also said he was confident that Euratom's standards were the highest possible.
