§ Mr. Tony BanksTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if the undertakings given at columns 1109–1110 in theOfficial Report of the Standing Committee on the Local Government Bill 1985 by the then Parliamentary Under-Secretary, the hon. Member for Ealing, Acton (Sir G. Young), on rent levels, management, maintenance and access by Londoners in respect of the Greater London council's seaside and country homes, still apply.
§ Mr. Chope[holding answer 28 January 1988]: The proposed terms for disposal will enable the new landlord to set reasonable levels of rent and of management and maintenance expenditure. The only long-term undertaking given concerned access by Londoners. New lettings will continue to be made exclusively to elderly Londoners by means of reserved nomination rights exercised through the London area mobility scheme.
