HC Deb 02 February 1988 vol 126 c562W
Mr. Leighton

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement as to the future of the Manpower Services Commission's disabled person's unit.

Mr. Lee

Neither the Manpower Services Commission nor the employment service has a disabled person's unit. However, the employment service of this Department has responsibility for the disablement resettlement service. This provides help to people with disabilities in the employment field, through jobcentre services, disablement resettlement officers and the disablement advisory service.

The Manpower Services Commission has responsibility for the employment rehabilitation service, which provides assessment and rehabilitation through employment rehabilitation centres and ASSET (assistance towards employment) centres.
