HL Deb 01 February 1988 vol 492 c980WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action they propose to take on the recommendation of the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art that new legislation should be introduced in this matter (Annual Report 1986–7, para. 17).

The Minister of State, Department of the Environment (The Earl of Caithness)

The recommendation of the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art is currently under consideration between the Office of Arts and Libraries, which is concerned with protecting heritage objects, and the Department of Trade and Industry, which has statutory responsibility for export licensing.
