To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will designate in 1988 a public right of way day in order to promote public awareness of their ancient rights.

Improved public awareness of the opportunities for countryside access is already a key objective in the Countryside Commission's revised policies for enjoying the countryside announced last September. We do not intend to designate a public right of way day in 1988.
