To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has on the levels of central Government subsidy to public passenger transport in the European Community.

I refer the hon. Member to the information on railway subsidies contained in the eighth Commission report on the transposed annual accounts of railway undertakings for 1984 (COM(87)311 final), a copy of which is in the Library. I have no comparable information about subsidies to other forms of passenger transport in the European Community.
