To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has anything to add to previous statements made concerning the circumstances, and reasons for the retirement of Dr. Frank Skuse, in the light of evidence presented at the hearing by the court of appeal of the case against the six men convicted of the Birmingham bomb offences.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department on what day the order was given to Dr. Frank Skuse to leave the Chorley laboratory by 31 October 1985.

§ Mr. John Patten
On 23 July 1985 Dr. Skuse was notified that his last day of service would be regarded as 31 October 1985. This arrangement ws confirmed in a letter dated 3 October 1985.
