HC Deb 01 February 1988 vol 126 cc500-1W
32. Mr. Fraser

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the average number of trips per person per week for London Dial-A-Ride members.

Mr. David Mitchell

Less than one per week.

41. Mr. Allen McKay

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is his policy on the number of trips per week that those eligible for Dial-A-Ride services should be able to receive.

52. Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is his policy towards encouraging increases in the volume of services provided by Dial-A-Ride services.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Dial-A-Ride services outside London are funded generally from the local authorities' revenue support for passenger transport. The Transport Act 1985 imposes a specific duty on local authorities to have regard to the transport needs of people with disabilities. The execution of this duty is entirely a matter for the local authorities.
