HC Deb 01 February 1988 vol 126 c454W
Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has any proposals to counteract the fall in blood donations in Scotland, and especially the west of Scotland region, between 1986 and 1987.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Yes. I have asked the Scottish national blood transfusion service to mount a national campaign to encourage people to give blood, and this will be launched later this month. In addition, regional efforts are being increased throughout Scotland. New donor sessions are being introduced; there are increased efforts to improve communications with potential donors; and donors may now be invited to give blood more frequently than hitherto.
