HC Deb 22 December 1988 vol 144 c387W
Mr. Macdonald

To ask the Secretary of Stae for Social Security when he expects information on the number of people receiving the severe disability premium to be available

Mr. Scott

Estimates of the number of people receiving the severe disability premium will be available with the publication of the May 1988 annual statistical inquiry in the summer of 1989.

Mr. Macdonald

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what procedures he has in place to monitor take-up of the severe disability premium.

Mr. Scott

All who are in receipt of income support and are eligible for the severe disability premium receive it automatically. It is estimated that about 7,000 claimants will receive the premium. Because the number entitled is small, no reliable statistical information will be available on which to monitor take-up.
