To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the current level of unemployment in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Viggers

At 10 November 1988, the latest date for which unemployment figures are available, there were 108,981 unemployed claimants in Northern Ireland, representing 15.7 per cent. of the work force.

Mr. Hume

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the numbers of people unemployed and claiming benefit by(a) constituency and (b) district in Northern Ireland.
