To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether his statutory advisers have provided the European Commission with lists of threatened animals and plants in the European Economic Community within the last year; and if he will make a statement.

In January 1988 our statutory advisers, the Nature Conservancy Council, accepted a contract from the European Commission to provide lists of threatened animal and plant species in the European Community. The information was submitted to the Commission in March this year.
