To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the estimated total amount saved by cost reductions on defence procurement contracts let on a competitive basis since 1979.

However, I should like to draw attention to an error in this answer; in line 11 it reads competition can be used to make it impossible", it should read competition can be used, make it impossible".
