To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether plans exist to restore the number of nuclear artillery regiments in the British Army of the Rhine to five.

The four BAOR artillery regiments currently equipped with the 105mm Abbot gun will be equipped in due course with a nuclear capable 155mm howitzer which could be deployed in a nuclear role. This change will not, however, lead to any increase in United Kingdom-assigned nuclear shell stocks in Europe.
