§ Mr. CousinsTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security, if he will publish a table showing with regard to the payment of supplementary benefit or income support to people in independent residential care and nursing homes and for each year since 1979 including an estimate for the current year(a) the expenditure in current and constant prices, (b) the number of claimants, (c) the average payment in current and constant prices, (d) the proportion of residents in receipt of supplementary benefit/income support and (e) the ceiling payments for care support under supplementary benefit/income support at both current prices and constant prices.
§ Mr. Peter LloydThe information requested is in the tables. All figures in table 1 are estimates. Information on the proportion of residents receiving supplementary benefit/income support is not yet available beyond February 1986. Table 2 provides information from April 1985 when the current system of national limits was introduced.
