§ Mr. LathamTo ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he will direct the Leicestershire health authority to provide specific and detailed answers forthwith to the Leicestershire community health council and to the "Maternity Unit Must Stay" campaign to the 14 questions of fact set out in the letter to the chairman of the Leicestershire health authority from Mrs. Jane Daw of Wing, Rutland, to which the chairman replied briefly on 10 November declining to provide the information; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Mellor[holding answer 19 December 1988]: Health authorities are required to provide information to community health councils to enable them to carry out their statutory duties. I understand that Leicestershire community health council has not formally sought the information referred to. It would therefore not be right for me to intervene in the way proposed.
