To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list in theOfficial Report the average number of people resident in Scotland per National Health Service hospital bed for the years 1978 to 1988.

The ratio of people to beds is set out below on the basis of the registrar general's mid-year estimates of population and the average number of available staffed beds in the years ending,31 March.
