§ Mr. StrangTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many firms he expects will become aware of the Health and Safety Executive's leaflets "Don't Wait Until an Inspector Calls", "500 Dead", and "Essential For Small Firms"; and how many firms will not be aware of these leaflets as they are not registered.
§ Mr. NichollsIt is impossible to estimate how many firms will have seen those leaflets, although over a millon copies have been distributed since 1986. The leaflets were in part aimed at encouraging a higher level of registration, and the number of premises registered with Her Majesty's factory inspectorate has increased steadily for the last three years.
§ Mr. StrangTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many Health and Safety Executive specialist inspectors are employed in each of the main specialist disciplines; and how many vacancies there are in each of those disciplines.
