To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what changes in the guidelines for the disbursement of the social fund have been issued to his Department's offices since April.

There have been seven amendments issued since April to the social fund manual. The amendments have covered general changes to the guidance and procedures, changes to the directions and new instructions on cold weather payments.

Mr. Ashley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what steps he is taking to improve the take-up of community care grants from the social fund.
