HC Deb 15 December 1988 vol 143 c701W
14. Mrs. Maureen Hicks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has as to whether similar action is being considered for other town centres, following the introduction by the police of security cameras in Wolverhampton town centre.

Mr. John Patten

The introduction of such schemes by the police in England and Wales is an operational matter for chief officers. Schemes of this kind might be considered in other "safer cities" areas. We are aware of similar schemes in Southampton, Bournemouth and King's Lynn.
