HC Deb 14 December 1988 vol 143 c630W
Dr. Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if his Department or any relevant agencies have given any guidance to local authorities, landowners and farmers in respect of the environmental and public health implications of using sprays to control the spread of brackens in national parks or other areas of countryside.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The Nature Conservancy Council has published guidance on the use of herbicides in nature reserves as "Focus on Nature Conservation" No. 14. This includes a chapter on asulam, which is the chemical normally used to control bracken.
