§ Mrs. RumboldThe school teachers' pay and conditions document 1988 gives LEAs flexibility to take account of the problems of recruiting and retaining teachers in urban areas. The teaching as a career unit, financed by the Department, is already in discussion with LEAs about best practice on recruitment policy. These discussions encompass the inner London boroughs, which will need to liaise with ILEA over the arrangements for teacher recruitment up to April 1990.
