Mr. Darling

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Edinburgh, Central on 29 November,Official Report, column 568, he will indicate whether any interference by computer hacking has taken place on defence computer systems concerning low-classified information; and if he will make a statement.

There is no evidence that computer hackers have gained access to any classified information held on Ministry of Defence computers. Precautions are also taken to deny unauthorised access to information held on unclassified systems, and there is no evidence of problems arising from any attempts to interfere with these systems.
