To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he is able to estimate the latest figures for the numbers of family credit applications awaiting a decision; and if he is able to break down the reasons for the delays in processing them.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how much a full uprating in 1989–90 of the illustrative rates of income support personal allowances would cost as published in the technical annex of the White Paper, "Reform of Social Security", in line with the retail prices index, less housing, in 1988–89, excluding compensation for the 20 per cent. contribution to rates.
