To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many persons in Shetland, who are in receipt of income support, receive the single parents supplement.

On 31 August 1988, the latest date for which information is available, 145 people were receiving the lone parent premium.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will estimate the number of single parents on income support who have ceased working since the change in the disregard rules.
