HL Deb 12 December 1988 vol 502 c816WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware that the United States Strategic Defence Initiative Organisation is examining a "cost-sharing project for a theatre missile defence test bed … to provide a facility in Israel for testing and integration of battle management/C3, and various Israeli theatre architecture weapons concepts" and whether they have ascertained that no work done by British firms under the Anglo-American Memorandum of Understanding on "theatre architecture" will be made use of in any Israeli/US Anti-Ballistic Missile research development or procurement.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Lord Glenarthur)

The first part of the Question is a matter for the two governments concerned. Regarding the second part, satisfactory arrangements exist in the US/UK SDI Memorandum of Understanding to safeguard the use of information generated by British firms.
