HC Deb 12 December 1988 vol 143 c390W
Dr. Thomas

To ask the Prime Minister if she will make it her policy to request President Gorbachev, during his forthcoming visit to the United Kingdom, to provide financial compensation for British farmers who have suffered economic hardship following contamination of their land and livestock by radioactive fallout from the Chernobyl nuclear accident.

The Prime Minister

President Gorbachev's planned visit to the United Kingdom has had to be postponed because of the devastating earthquake in Armenia. The position with regard to compensation remains as stated in the reply to the hon. Member of 21 July 1986 at column5.
