To ask the Secretary of State for Energy how much electricity is produced from(a) coal, (b) nuclear energy, (c) oil and (d) other sources; and if he will make a statement.

As state in tabled 9 of the Central Electricity Generating Board's annual report and accounts for 1987–88 (a copy of which is in the Library of the House) electricity supplied by the CEGB's power stations in 1987–88 was as follows:

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what assessment his Department has made of the relative cost of generating electricity by coal, oil and nuclear energy after taking account of the waste disposal and decommissioning investment allowed for.
