To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what arrangements exist within his Department to keep London local authorities informed of progress in meeting the standards of directive 80/778/EEC.

Specific arrangements have not been established as London boroughs have a duty to ascertain the wholesomeness of drinking water in their respective areas.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment which areas of London fail to meet the standards set out in the European Community drinking water directive 80/778/EEC.

There are no drinking water supplies to areas of London regularly exceeding the standards set in the EC drinking water directive.
