To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what are the projected manning levels in the British coal industry for each of the next two years.

Mr. Michael Spicer

The Government do not make such projections. The level of employment in the coal industry depends on a number of factors, including the industry's continued ability to raise its competitiveness.
