To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will produce figures for the total stock of dwellings for Scotland by tenure; and if he will express those figures by local authority area.

Estimates of the dwelling stock in Scotland by tenure are published quarterly in "Housing and Construction Statistics". The numbers of domestic subjects on the valuation roll by tenure for each local authority area in Scotland are published annually in "Rating Review: Estimates of Income and Expenditure Summary Volume" by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy. Copies of both publications are available in the Library.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how much subsidy in terms of housing support grant and rate fund contribution has been paid and is estimated to be paid in respect of local authorities for each of the financial years 1979–80 to 1989–90, both in total, and expressed as a subsidy per dwelling for the total number of dwellings in local authority control and in respect of those authorities in receipt of subsidy.
