HC Deb 07 December 1988 vol 143 cc177-8W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster why members of his Department are on the interdepartmental group looking at the workings of the Data Protection Act; and whether he will define the concerns of his Department in respect of the Data Protection Act.

Mr. Forth

The Department of Trade and Industry's several concerns in the Data Protection Act are reflected by including in the group reviewing its working officials from the market division for the information technology industry, the division responsible for the protection of consumer interests in domestic and trade policy, and the enterprise and deregulation unit which co-ordinates action across Government to remove unnecessary burdens on business.
